Final Release - Battle of Gettysburg 1863

The final release from this popular five-coin series marks the Battle of Gettysburg, the historic turning point in the American Civil War. Over three days, Union forces under the command of General George Meade repulsed the Confederate army led by General Robert E Lee, turning the course of the war in favour of the North. Four and a half months later, President Abraham Lincoln delivered one of the greatest addresses in American history on the Gettysburg field where more than 7,600 troops had died.

Proof Quality 99.9% Pure Silver

The coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.

Coloured Reverse Design

The coin’s reverse, which includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, portrays a coloured representation of the climactic final day’s battle at Gettysburg between Union and Confederacy troops by artist Dale Gallon. Struck elements of the design portray a Union soldier and a cannon.

Dale Gallon, who lives and works in Gettysburg, released his first limited edition Civil War print in 1980. Known for his attention to detail and historical accuracy, Dale has produced over 200 images and collected is worldwide. More.

Issued as Legal Tender

Issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu, the coin bears the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.

Extremely Limited Mintage

The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of these coins.

Each coin is housed in a presentation display case and superbly illustrated shipper.
